This is a beautiful wampum choker which I recently completed in the traditional style using a heavy weight linen cording as the warp, and a sinew as the weft securing locking each bead tightly into place.
The beads used for this belt are perfect examples of 18th century glass wampum trade style beads produced from the original machines in Czech. These beads were purchased from Turkey Foot Trading Coy. The main color is yellow and red with black step design elements.
This belt measures 1 1/4 inches in width by 13 3/4 inches in length including the deer tabs on the ends. The belt is 3 beads tall. It can be used for purely decoration or in reenacting 18th century Woodland Indian impressions or for Longhunters. Please email me for any other information you may need on this belt, or for information on custom work. I have a large collection of other belts and woodland crafts on my ebay store: ART OF AMERICA PAST GALLERY under the category "Woodland Beadwork". Under "Frontier Art" you will find many of my paintings and limited edition prints. Several were used as covers on The National Muzzle Loading Rifle Associations’s publication MUZZLE BLASTS.
