Washington Sen. Warren G. Magnuson signed 3x5 note card
Card and signature are both in near-mint condition.
Magnuson, a Democrat, was elected to the U.S. Senate in 1944 and served six terms until losing a re-election bid in 1980. He also served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1937 to 1944. Magnuson died in 1989.
The back of the card is stamped 20 MAR 1970, the date the autograph was received.
This 3x5 comes from a massive political autograph collection assembled in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s. It contains both the well known and the seemingly unknown. From governors Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan to Supreme Court justices; from Margaret Chase Smith and Shirley Chisholm to Tip O’Neill and Sam Ervin. The collection has been authenticated by a letter from James Spence (see right), whose expertise in the field of autographs is unsurpassed. A copy of this letter will be provided to the buyer upon request.
