| | | | I am offering an unusal piece of vintage advertising . It is a 2 3/4 " x 2 3/4" plastic rocking horse with a pencil sharpener in the front of the horse. Under the horse on the rocker frame is printed Water Gate Inn. I researched this on the WEB and believe it was the Water Gate Inn that stood on the banks of the Potomac on the western end of F Street in Washington DC. The Water Gate Inn was a popular establishment that served Pennsylvania Dutch food and opened in 1942 in an old riding academy. It was demolished in 1966 to make way for the John F. Kennedy Center of the Performing Arts. This is a small plastic rocking horse with hair brush tail and red saddle. It is was made in Germany. It is a very sweet rocking horse with a wonderful history.
