Poly pellets are used to weight DreamCatcher Blankets. They are non toxic and hypoallergenic according to the manufacturer.  The blankets are convenient to machine wash and machine dry as nothing needs to be removed first, such as covers or weighting material.

All About Materials Used to Weight, DreamCatcher Weighted Blankets

Poly Pellets are recommended  effective deep pressure for ALL blanket sizes and weights up to 50LBS.  

* The type of weighting material used in weighted products is very important *

DreamCatcher Blankets weight blankets using the highest quality  Poly Beads or Poly Pellets on the market today. These poly beads are SAFE, machine washable, proven highly effective in applying deep pressure up to 50LBS, hypoallergenic, recommended and used by professionals as a superior weighting material. Blankets weighted with poly pellets can be machine washed and machine dried.

Poor quality weighted blankets in the past few years and some on the market today, have or are being   made with inferior materials such as sand,  stones, steel shot, beans ,rice, field corn, aquarium gravel,etc. These materials are unsafe or impractical, and will lessen the life of a blanket considerably.

Sand or fine stone is an unsafe weighting material as it contains silica, and should not be used as a weighting material. In addition, blankets made with sand will eventually leak and the blanket will become gritty.  

Blankets made with aquarium, gravel, stone and field corn  are unsanitary, have sharp or pointed edges and  may harm the user.  In addition the pointed edges will cut and wear through the fabric in a relatively small period of time, especially with machine washing and drying.  Some blanket manufacturers falsely claim stones are a more effective weight than poly pellets, these types of material just happens to be a cheap material for the manufacturer, but certainly not more effective.

Blankets filled with rice, beans, field corn or any organic material can not be washed.  If these types of weighting materials are microwaved to warm, get wet or are used in high humidity areas, the material will quickly mold and deteriorate , emit odors, and  attract insects. Covers for these type of blankets may be washed but the problem will still persist with the blanket itself.

In addition, some blankets on the market today are made so you can remove and add weight, which also makes the weights easy for the youngsters to pull out, which many do.

    I love the blanket and so does my son!!  I love snuggling under it with him.   It helps me sleep better too.  I like the weight on me and it really knocks me out!!  It's a beautiful blanket and it feels so nice.   My son had only tried a weighted vest once or twice in school, but he's older now and seems to really respond better to the all-over pressure.  My daughter's jealous , so we might be making another order with you!!  Then, my 2 year old will start bugging me too :).  Maybe we should just get a king size and all camp out :).

How much time does it take to get a DreamCatcher tm custom blanket ?

 This blanket is custom made with the fabric of your choice, cotton, flannel, fleece or any combination. You will choose the fabric type, color and pattern  from a variety of choices too numerous to include on the auction. Fabric pictures shown on this listing are samples of fabric used in the past and may or may not be available for your blanket. Please email if you would like to see fabric selection prior to purchase.

We know personally the expense of raising a special needs child. DreamCatcher Custom blankets are a quality product at an extremely reasonable price.   Many people have asked us to make a blanket or two  for them.   Because of that estimated completion time can be anywhere between  3 to 12  weeks.
