Wendell August Twelve Days of Christmas Ornament Set

 Handcrafted in Pewter


This auction is for an exquisite collection of Wendell August pewter ornaments.  This series is entitled The Twelve Days of Christmas and is collector's edition number 74.  The program debuted in the fall of 2000 with each of the 12 ornaments depicting one of the gifts given in the beloved holiday song.  Availability was limited and closed January 31, 2002 at which time the dies were retired.

No two Wendell August pieces are ever exactly alike.  Each one is crafted by hand, using many of the same type of hammers and anvils artisans did when they opened in 1923.  The pride and precision is the same as well; every piece bears the mark of the master engraver who hand cut the die (look for his initials hidden within the design) and the hallmark of the craftsman who hammered it.

The pewter ornaments are in the original box with velvet storage pouch and all paperwork.  Each ornament measures 3" by 1 3/4". They have been stored since purchase, never used or displayed.
