Gorgeous custom made, silver Western Pleasure show bridle, bit , reins and curb strap. These beautiful pieces were custom made for me by The Broken Horn in Southern California during the late 90's. My Arab mare has a beautiful head and I wanted a headstall that really let her profile show so had this single earred bridle made for her. Medium oiled leather with 5 silver ferrules down each side. Each finely etched silver ferrule is 1 1/2 inches long by 5/8 inch wide and seperated by a braided rawhide "bead". Beautiful scallop edged silver conchos decorate the ends that connect to the bit . Matching silver buckles, keepers and tab ends on chin strap and bridle. Buckles on chin strap are marked Broken Horn. Condition is excellent, leather strong, silver clean and shiny, no dents or scratches.

The reins were also custom made for me by Broken Horn to match the bridle. Dripping with silver they start with 2 inch long rein extenders held together with 1 inch round silver conchos ( these help to give that really droopy rein look) then tightly woven round braided reins with 7, 1 1/2 inch long by 3/4 silver ferrules seperated by rawhide rings down each side and then a romal with 7, 1 1/2 by 1 inch silver ferrules ending with a 5 inch long bat with 2, 1 inch round conchos! These would be in perfect condition if not for a 7 inch section on one of the reins that got chewed by a rat while in storage ! :( The darn varmit literally chewed through my beautiful quilted bridle bag and had his way with my gorgeous reins! I cried a river over that one!! I do believe that these can be repaired/rewoven by a skilled leather or saddle shop. Since this happened after I was done showing I never looked into it so don't know what it would cost.

Last is the bit. Purchased from Schneider Saddle Shop it is silver plate over heavy steel, 5 inch copper ringed bit with copper and brass frog and copper roller for nice wet mouth. It measures 5 1/2 inches from the mouthpiece to where the reins connect.

Headstall measures 19 inches (At it's longest, can be made shorter) from top of horses head to where it attaches to bit. Leather is 5/8 inches wide by 3/8 inches thick. Reins measure 52 inches long by 1/2 inch wide and romal measures 48 inches to end of bat.

Such a beautiful, flashy set...hopefully the reins can be repaired, if not perhaps the silver used for another set?? Please enlarge pictures to see the details on these wonderful pieces.
