A Buddhist-oriented college established in 1974, Naropa's unorthodox curriculum included valuable writing instruction supplemented by close involvement in the daily lives and habits (both good and bad) of Kashner's teachers, who included Allen Ginsberg, Gregory Corso, William Burroughs, and Anne Waldman.
