Item Description
You are purchasing a large clump (at least 6 plants/fans) of Walking Iris, Apostle Plants (Neomarica gracilis) Blooming size plants - NOT BABIES. These plants get lovely flowers with white outer petals with recurved inner petals of purple.
This is a large clump of blooming size plants - at least 6 individual fans/plants in each clump - currently growing in a 2 gallon container. I suggest planting as they are, in a clump, and then letting them spread as they produce babies - but, with care, the plants could be separated and planted independently. If there are any babies on the plants, I will ship them with the plants whenever possible (if they will fit in the box).
These lovely plants, with delicate white and purple iris blooms and tall leaves that grow in a fan shape, are SO EASY TO GROW it will amaze you! In tropical areas, these shade-loving plants make great substitutes for iris and hostas. These walking iris' bloom in profusion in the spring. The inflorescence arises from the base. When each inflorescence is finished flowering, it produces plantlets and arches toward the ground (walking) where they will take root and start a new plant.
Reported cold hardy to USDA Zone 8 (I grow in 9a with no problems), these can be grown in containers in colder climates and brought in during the winter. If growing in a pot, you can clip the plantlets when they have air roots and place in their own pot for sharing or for even more blooms in coming years. Plantlets take only 1 year to bloom (depending on climate and care).
