White background ROSEMALED hand painted plate VINTAGE

Here's a vintage 1950's hand-painted wooden plate, from a farm estate here in Wisconsin. This is signed Ma-- (I can't make it out, sorry!) and dated '54. It's 14" in diameter, and in very nice condition.

We don't know a lot about this piece, it came from the Oregon Wisconsin area, not far from Stoughton, where there was (and is) a large Scandinavian community. The white background we know is highly prized, and was done by students of and in imitation of Per Lysne's work during the early century.

We haven't been able to find out much without knowing the artist's name, but this is very nicely painted, and we very seldom find the rosemaling on a light colored ground.... an unusual piece for your collection!
