This catalogue, produced in conjunction with a 1962 exhibition at New York’s Sidney Janis Gallery, is an excellent vintage resource on the work of American abstract expressionist painter Willem de Kooning. It includes an essay by Thomas B. Hess, a checklist of the 45 works exhibited, and 40 illustrations of works in the show (with 4 full-page color plates of major paintings). The catalogue also includes a series of fascinating documentary photos taken during the gallery's past exhibitions of works by de Kooning, in 1953, 1956, and 1959.
The 32-page softcover volume measures 11 x 8.5 inches. The cover shows some significant wear, but the interior pages are fresh and in very good condition.
