This interesting book by Andrew Jefford is a guide for understanding the world of wine. The back cover states, you can "Discover the pleasure of wine for yourself, through the exploration of grape varieties and regions, and through a celebration of the many different styles available." Not only does this book cover how to learn to recognize the taste of a dozen or more grape varieties, it examines the flavors you can expect from the major wine-making regions & the impact of the wine-maker on the flavors of wines.
This book turns to the essentials that help our enjoyment of wine, offers advice on buying, cellaring, & serving, along with issues of wine & food matching and choosing wine in restaurants. There is only slight evidence of shelf wear with a small tear in the dust cover, but because it is not new (but it's real close) I have listed it as "very good". It originally sold for over $24. This would make a nice addition to a wine appreciation library.
