To Hear Her Sing Again The uninhibited blues child
Sang straggly lyrics (none too mild)
And left a deep impression on young ears. No one could tame her restless soul: Port Arthur tried but rock-n-roll . . . Would see her through her short-lived hyper years. If time could go the other way . . . Back to Woodstock and Monterey And we could hitchhike there and join right in, Who’d go with me to dance and laugh . . . And ask her for her autograph . . .
And be right there to hear her sing again? From time to a station “croons”
Her songs but all the other tunes She might have shared will never be disclosed: Fast music, drugs, and youthful age Helped her work magic on the stage; But gone’s the magic since she overdosed. Poet's credentials:
