IMPORTANT 16TH CENTURY WORLD MAP. Handsome black & white original woodblock engraving of the world from Bordones' Isolario....   Approx. size 15 1/2" x  9 1/2".  Errata on verso.  A wonderful opportunity to acquire one of the great world maps of the Sixteenth Century. This is an original 480 year old map.  The first obtainable map on an oval projection.  From before Munster, Ortelius, Mercator, Hondius, DeJode, Janszoon, Blaeu et al.

Condition:  Map is in very good condition with full margins. Very good impression with little toning. Map is expertly rebacked with rice paper.  Full margins not shown in scans. SEE SCANS.  The map has a hardly noticable imperfection of slight loss of centerfold paper and minor restoration of bottom center neatline of approximately 3/16 inch and very tiny slivers upper center. SEE SCANS- especially the scan of the back of the map. Discoloration on the back is not visible from the front of the map.
