Product Name: X10 FireCracker Home Control Kit (CK18A)
What you get!...
FireCracker Computer Interface
No bigger than a Fig Newton, the interface plugs into a serial port in the back of your computer. Its through-port design allows you to plug another device into the back of the interface -- you need not lose a serial port to use FireCracker!
Using the FireCracker; software allows you to send commands through this interface to the Wireless Link Module; and through the household wiring. Customize your home appliances to fit your own lifestyle.
This interface can control up to 16 sets of lights and appliances.
FireCracker Software
Using the software, you send commands to the computer interface that you've plugged into the back of your computer (see above). The interface sends commands to the link module, which translates the wireless signal into an X10 signal.
Best of all, the FireCracker kit is fully compatible with your voice-activation software -- simply tell the coffeepot to start brewing and it will!
PalmPad Remote
The PalmPad Remote lets you leave your computer behind and still have the same precise home control capabilities of the FireCracker software.
This trim remote sits nicely in your hand or on a bedside table. A click of a button and your lights, appliances respond! Its uses are limited only by your creativity and imagination.
The PalmPad lets you control up to 16 lights and appliances remotely when used with the FireCracker Wireless Link Module. Has dim and brighten control for incandescent lighting.
Battery operated, RF transmission, 100' range, 16 unit control.
Wireless Link Module
Using baseball terminology, this module is the "catcher" to the computer interface "pitcher." It takes the wireless signal from the computer interface and converts it to an X10 signal, sending commands through the household wiring to lamp and appliance modules.
You can also think of this module as a traffic controller. It will send signals, based on the computer interface commands, to only those modules keyed to a certain housecode (A-1, A-2, etc.). This allows you to control up to four sets of lights and appliances at a time.
Yet another use for this module is that it can double up as an appliance module. Simply plug a household appliance ( like a coffeepot or radio -- larger appliances like sprinklers need a Universal Module;) into the link module and it will respond to computer interface commands.
To expand your X10 system, you can purchase additional appliance modules separately.
Additional Features:
- It can also be turned on and off from any other X10 Controller, such as the Mini Timer.
- It re-transmits, over your existing house wiring, any signals it receives from the Wireless Keychain Remote Control or the RT504 Wireless Remote Control. This lets you control up to two additional X10 Modules from those Wireless Remote Controls (assuming one of the other Modules is set to the same Unit Code as the Wireless Link Module).
Lamp Module
Plug any incandescent lamp into this modern technological marvel and you have control! This device is ideal for bedroom, living room, and family room lamps. Besides the convenient on/off feature, you can use X10 remote controls or software to progressively dim lights plugged into these modules. It makes a world of difference to your home!
This is the device that makes your lamps "smart." See the black and red dials on the right? They let you set the house code for the module. Right now it is set to A-1. When the computer interface and wireless module send commands along the house wiring for all modules set to A-1, this module will respond -- and turn on, turn off, or progressively dim the lamp connected to it.
Rated at 300W (incandescent). Dimmable through X10 controllers.
