500 feet of #14 AWG XHHW-2 XLP stranded conductor (7 strands) cable with black 30 mil Cross-Linked Polyethylene (XLP)  insulation,  a nominal diameter of .14"  manufactured by Rome Cable Corporation, rated for 600 volts and a NEC Ampacity of 25.  

This wire is general purpose wire for lighting and power - residential, coomercial, and industrial buldings in accordance with the National Electrical Code.  It is rated for use for a maximum conductor temperature of 90 degrees C in dry or wet locations, 600 volts for installation in conduit or other recognized raceways.

It is suitable for use in low leakage circuits requiring a dielectric constant of 3.5 or less, such as isolated circuits supplying anesthetizing locations per Article 517-160 of the NEC.  Also suitable for use as low leakage inductive (loop) vehicle detector wire in accordance with state and municipal requirements.

1. Listed by UL as Type XHHW-2 per Standard 44 for Rubber-Insulated Wires and Cables.

Why should you buy thermoset (cross linked polyethylene) insulated XHHW when you can get a thermoplastic insulated product (THHN/THWN) having the same rating?
First the thermoset product has better low temperature properties and secondly a higher K Value (electrical properties, 10,000 K Value vs. 4000).  This is better for underground applications and harsher environments and the short circuit current carrying capacity is also greater, providing greater protection from meltdown than THHN.
