About the Artist
Brice: "The magic of glass is its dynamic ability to transmit light and to change the color of light. The wonder of working with glass is the flexibility it offers – the possibilities available of both form and color design. I have yet to find any aesthetic limitations from the material.
"I introduce my voice to the glass, and then must be quiet and attentive while coaxing a reply from the piece itself. One of three are great. One of thirty sing, and together we convey something beautiful to the world."
"Born in Tacoma, Washington, I grew up in Nebraska. A nice little town called York. I went to college way back in 1990 with the intention of becoming a watercolorist. I attended Chadron State College in Northwest Nebraska, amongst the real cowboys and cowgirls I didn't know were around anymore. My Alma Mater required all art majors to take (gulp) glass blowing! After the two required terms of frustration and numerous clunky Christmas presents for the family back home (still can't get them to throw that stuff out!), I was glad to be done with that headache. Fortunately, I couldn't fill my schedule the next term, and another student swindled me into taking glass for a third go 'round. During my third semester, I began to understand that glass only fights as hard as you make it fight. I learned to ask it nicer questions, make more polite suggestions, and eventually graduated with a degree in 3-D (glass) art."
