My son received this from his grandmother as part of the Give 1 Get 1 program for Christmas. I got tired of messing around with it after a couple of days and it has been sitting on his desk unused for months. It has the updated current OS and everything works perfect EXCEPT for the microphone and camera. I don't know what is wrong with those two components. I do know that the first time we turned it on they worked great; we used the camera and took a few pics for about 15 minutes, then the next time we turned it on, nothing. The weird part is that the LED light that indicates that the camera or mic is on flashes briefly when opening the tool to take pics, but will not come on when the picture tool is open. I am fairly optimistic that it is probably a simple problem that someone with programming knowledge and a little bit of free time can solve, but I just don't have that kind of time and don't really care anymore. So I don't think the camera or mic is broken, I think it just can't communicate with the OS for some reason.

Although this has been promoted as a great starter for kids, which it is as far as size, simplicity, and construction durability, my personal opinion is that due to the many quirks and glitches it has turned out to be a great experiment and toy for tinkering around with for professionals and hobbyists.
