Product Description

Yamaha MOTIF XS8 is a professional 88-key synthesizer workstation ideal for use in both live and studio settings. Yamaha MOTIF XS8 uses a powerful sound engine and high-quality waveforms and samples to bring your performance an incredibly realistic sound. Each voice can have up to eight separate elements of sound for increased complexity and nuance. The Expanded Articulation system provides more natural legato, staccato, and key release sounds, while special Mega Voices add richness to sequencer tracks and arpeggios.

The built-in arpeggiator provides approximately 6000 preprogrammed phrases, and you can have up to four of them playing simultaneously in perfect sync - great for live performances. As you play, you can store your ideas as songs or patterns to the internal memory. A 16-track sampling sequencer combines audio and MIDI recording so you can record music played on the keyboard along with music from a microphone, external instrument, or CD. A unique Slice feature lets you break a piece down into individual beats and notes for precise manipulation without affecting pitch or sound quality.

Yamaha MOTIF XS8 offers an intuitive interface complete with a large, color backlit LCD, pitch and modulation wheels, a ribbon controller, and assignable knobs and sliders so you can make adjustments to parameters and effects in real-time while you play. Effects include reverb, delay, EQ, and more. In addition to the built-in capabilities, the keyboard can be connected to your computer and integrated with your DAW. It offers seamless integration with popular software such as Cubase 4, Logic, SONAR, and Digital Performer.

High-Quality Audio
High-quality on-board samples and waveforms provide a realistic sound with terrific detail and nuance. The Expanded Articulation system recreates performances techniques such as legato, staccato, and key release for a more authentic sound. A wide variety of voices and drum kits are provided for playing in many genres and styles.

Intuitive Interface
The interface features pitch and modulation wheels, a ribbon controller, and assignable sliders and knobs so you can make real-time tweaks to parameters and effects while you play. A large backlit LCD shows vital information.

Arpeggiator
Approximately 6000 arpeggio phrases are provided, up to four of which can be played simultaneously. Perfect for live performance, the arpeggiator lets you create full jam sessions that can be recorded as songs or patterns.

Integrated Sampling Sequencer
Seamlessly combine audio and MIDI recording to record your playing, vocals, external instrument, or music from a CD. The Slice feature lets you manipulate your recordings with great precision without affecting pitch and sound quality.

Built-in effects include reverb, delay, EQ, and more for customizing your sound.

Connectivity
The MOTIF XS8 features a 1/4" stereo input, 1/4" stereo outputs, a S/PDIF digital output, footswitch and pedal inputs, and a full complement of MIDI connectors. A USB to Device connector lets you connect a USB hard drive or flash drive. For connecting to your computer or network it has a USB port, Ethernet jack, and two FireWire ports for mLAN capabilities.

Software
The keyboard is designed to operate seamlessly with popular DAW software such as Cubase, Logic, SONAR, and Digital Performer. Cubase AI software is included to give you pro-level recording tools, and it is easily upgraded to Cubase 4. MOTIF XS editing software is freely-downloadable for editing and mixing your work.
