EL CAPITAN AT SUNSET FROM YOSEMITE VALLEY, CALIFORNIA; 36X24 IN. ELEGANT, LIGHTWEIGHT ARTS AND CRAFTS STYLE MAPLE AND WALNUT FRAME, MADE BY ME. THE ARTIST
EL CAPITAN AT SUNSET FROM YOSEMITE VALLEY; 36H x 24W Inches
I used to get to Yosemite Park fairly regularly in the 1990's. Despite the crowds, it's still an amazing place. The first time I saw it was back in the 60's, as a child. They were still doing the Firefall then (for those that remember), off of this very cliff, as I remember. For this painting the sky was filled with an electric magenta alpenglow, making El Cap appear even more looming and impressive. Careful, this magenta is powerful! - Fully saturated colors! Signed "Christy 1998" and titled "El Capitan from Yosemite Valley" on the back. This frame is very lightweight because it is hollow - it's built like an airplane wing (see back view, below). The frame is 2" wide, 1 3/4" deep, with a walnut face and a maple side and inner liner. The full outside dimensions of the frame are 39 1/2" H x 28"W. It is finished to a fine woodworking standard.

About Me I've been a full-time artist for twentytwo years. Through the years I've been in numerous solo and group shows, mostly in the West - Seattle, Mendocino,San Francisco, Santa Cruz, Monterey, Los Angeles, San Diego, Las Vegas, and Bisbee, Az. - but also in the Midwest and South - Wisconsin (Lake Superior area), Chicago, and Atlanta. In all these places I created unique works suited for these areas. I have sold well over a thousand paintings. But of course, not every work in a show sells (oftentimes not even the best ones), galleries go out of business (they can even be more unstable than artists), the artist travels on ... I have an enormous archive of unsold, maybe even never shown paintings. Now I work out of the midwest, and travel west to paint on site and collect images. I also love painting the Midwestern landscape. So, art for sale here may have been made very recently. Or, it may be 10 or more years old. I stand completely behind all of my work that is for sale, here, whenever it was created. Everything for sale is recognizably my work, and only my work. And if you like it, that's all that should matter. I am also a competent carpenter. So, many of my canvas stretches were made by me. I also made many of the frames. If a painting is on one of my hand-made stretchers or in one of my hand-made frames, I will try to make note of that, or email me. This does increase the works value - imagine if you owned a Picasso where he made the stretcher and the frame! If you want to change a frame on a work, or add a fame to a gallery-wrapped work, please talk to me before you purchase the item, so that can be included in the ebay sale (for your protection!).
SHIPPING TERMS
Customer satisfaction is my number one concern. So I offer 100% satisfaction guarantee (if you pay for return shipping). Besides, I think selling paintings is like finding homes for kittens - I want to know that they go where they are loved. I am very experienced at packing and shipping art. If you wish insurance, please advise me of that. Use the UPS shipping calculator to figure your shipping charges (weight may vary a little). Shipping will include a three dollar handling fee. Final payment will be the final bid plus shipping and handling plus insurance, if you desire it. If you prefer another shipping method, please tell me. Anything odd must be approved by me before the end of the auction.
