Your Slides & Negs are Dying! Let Us Scan Them for You
This auction is for scanning your 35mm Slides for you to preserve them on CD or DVD.

SATISFACTION GUARANTEED!
Nothing lasts forever, especially slide and negative films. Over the years they begin to lose density (lighten) and color shift, especially when stored a damp and or warm place. Your Slides and Negs are slowly dying before our eyes....!
Looking for advice on the best way to digitally preserve these photos, which represent treasured memories?
If your photos and film are precious to you, we would strongly advise digitizing as soon as possible, even if they aren't in top shape. Generally, the better condition your film is in, the better your scans will be. However, we include enhancement services such as basic color correction and Digital ICE as part of this basic service package. Often, we are able to make older slides and film look much better! For example:
Here's a slide from 1960 of my dad's, BEFORE:
Photobucket

Here's after I fixed it in software:
Photobucket

Why can't I do it myself?

You can. But a dedicated film scanner will by far give the best results if you care about quality. Flatbed scanners give soft fuzzy images. The scanning itself is not such a problem although it is time consuming but what I found was that the critical part of a good scan of a slide is cleaning the slide. Dirt on slides shows up to a much greater degree than on scans of pictures or documents. Cleaning slides is very tedious and almost never perfect. Also cheapo flat bed scanners don't support
Digital ICE. Digital ICE removes most all surface imperfections such as dust and scratches. No matter how clean your slides and negs are they attract dust and dirt. You would be spending almost an hour per image removing unwanted imperfections in a digital editing program like Photoshop.
Also I am a trained artist and photographer working in the graphic arts since 1976. I am trained to correct color balance, grain, and exposure density. It can takes months or years to learn how to get the best possible results from a profession film scanner.
Professional film scanners yield professional results, but they are also thousands of dollars.
Why can't I take it to a Walgreens or CVS?
Most of their "photo specialists" weren't even alive when film was around. They have minimal training and don't do a good job of quality control. They also charge $1 an image for only 600 DPI!!! That will barely be big enough to make a quality 4X6 print... Would you give your memories to someone who makes minimum wage?
What will you do for the auction cost?
