Yukata Cut It! Pattern
Pattern includes instructions for a 48" x 48" art quilt made using yukata fabric. You can substitute commercial asian / oriental / japanese fabric or any specialty textiles for the yukata fabrics.
I am a frequent buyer of Japanese yukata fabrics. Yukata is the cotton fabric used to make summer kimonos, and is also the name used for the summer robes made from this fabric. It is a dyed fabric (that is, not screen printed) and so is usable, and beautiful, from both sides. I have been buying and working with these fabrics, especially the vintage ones, for several years. In 2006 I designed this quilt to use these fabrics in an artistic but repeatable way. By following the guidance in the pattern, you too can create a beautiful piece of quilt art from yukata or other specialty fabrics.

I have been designing quilt patterns since 2002. My designs are characterized by ease of construction, the use of large pieces of fabric, and the use of a large-scale fabric. My trademark design element is the diagonal line, which makes all my designs dynamic, interesting, and somewhat different from traditional quilt patterns. Although I do make use of computer tools in the process, I start all my designs with pencil sketches in my notebook, which is a notebook of gridded graph paper. If it can be drawn on graph paper, it can easily be sewn into a quilt!
Since 2002, I have designed and written over 30 different quilt pattern titles, of which nearly 60,000 copies have been sold. I've also designed original quilts for many fabric companies. Please note that all my patterns are copyrighted material and may not be reproduced, whether for profit or not, without my written permission.
