LAST CHANCE. Up for auction is a RARE unique Robot made by 21 century robotics. The Robot is model Z-Bop and was custom made for Discovery Zone in the early 90's to keep kids entertained. This robot is a great buy for people who are into robotics and electronics.  This robot is in good working condition. The main thing it needs is 2 main tires, the original tires have dry rotted over time.  The original cost of Z-BOP when NEW was about $15,000 (he is out of production now, but the company still sells parts and schematics). Since I bought it I have made some repairs & upgrades. First I added a NEW more modern 6 channel radio control unit that cost about $150 (the original was missing and was a late 80's style anyhow). The 6 Channel Radio control unit I added was made by Tower Hobbies.  I also made 4 new antenna springs for the missing ones that cost me about $40. And I added new eyes (originals where missing). I recently added a set of 2 NEW FRESH batteries to test it  (these have been installed in Z-BOP and are included). The two batteries alone cost about $90.  Z-BOP's 2 motors are high powered (simular to ones used in wheel chairs).  The robot is made out of a fiberglass body with metal structure inside for support.  See list below for what is included, what Z-BOP can do, options, extra features, dimensions and cosmetic touch ups that can be done if desired.    THIS AUCTION is for local PICK-UP ONLY IT IS TOO BIG TO SHIP.   Winner of this auction will be responsible for picking up and transporting this robot.  You will need to bring 2 to 3 people since he is very heavy.  This robot MUST BE PICKED UP by Sunday, Nov.  22,2009.  Please contact me to make arrangements for PICK-UP.  ALL sales final. Here is what Z-BOP can do:

Go forward
Go reverse
Turn left
Turn right
NOTE : For Z-BOP to actually go forward,reverse, left and right you will need to put on new tires. I can demonstrate the movements of the motors if one comes to see it, by having the robot run the motors while suspended on two wooden boards.
Move head left
Move head right
Tilt Head Up and Down, Eyes and Mouth light up
Move right arm ( Z-BOP was not made to move his left arm)
Z-BOP plays random musical notes & comical sayings (All 4 buttons on the front will light up and if you push one of the first 3 it will play a musical tune or comical saying)
It will also play a continuous 30 sec. cassette tape ( I am including 4 more New blank tapes 5 total)

Extra Options and Features:

Z-BOP has a built in amplifier with a set of speakers and a Microphone input, so you could add a walkie talkie
Z-BOP has access covers in the front and back that are removable to access his insides.
Z-BOP has an extra servo control and power cables. This is another option that is made for you to add a TV monitor inside his belly area. Z-BOP does not come with the TV monitor, but it has the wiring to add one if desired.

Here is a list of the cosmetic things that you could fix or leave as-is:

The main body has a nickel size chip in the front close to the front panel and scratches, scuff marks from use. The left and right arms both have scuff marks from use, mainly around the shoulder area (see close-up photos of arms). Also, the paint on the feet are cracking and chipped from age, (see close-up photos of feet). The eyes are homemade, and could use a new paint job (see picture). The four middle balls that I made for the antenna tops are made from children's bowling balls, so you may want to fill in the little indentations with filler to make them look better, (see close-up of balls).  Again these are only cosmetic issues and can easily be fixed if desired.  They will not affect operation of Z-BOP.
