RED WESTERN MARYLAND TWO-CAR HOPPER SET

The Western Maryland Railway (AAR reporting marks WM) was an American Class I railroad which operated in Maryland, West Virginia and Pennsylvania. It was built west from Baltimore in 1852 and completed to Hagerstown, Maryland in 1872 finally becoming the Western Maryland Railway Company. The coal and lumber trades made important freight for the WM and it's fast freight service ran from West Virginia through to Pennsylvania. In 1964, the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway (C&O) and the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad (B&O) jointly filed for permission to acquire control of the Western Maryland Railway with the Interstate Commerce Commission (ICC). In 1973, as part of the Chessie System, the Western Maryland ownership went to C&O and it was operated by the B&O. In 1987, it was merged into the C&O which itself became part of CSX Transportation.

Here's the September 2007 offering from Full Throttle. It's a 33' open rib-side, two-bay hopper car marked for the Western Maryland Railway. The models were manufactured with great details by Bowser Mfg., painted in a slight sheen, inside and out, with Western Maryland red and there are custom Hay Bros. Garage coal loads in them. They sport MTL Bettendorf trucks with knuckle couplers and the printing is immaculate, tiny and clean. The logo is the Western Maryland SPEED lettering! Here listed is Set #2 with reporting numbers 10225 and 10447.

As you can see, the crystal clear display box holds two cars, and is stackable! Inside, the cars are cradled in a foam liner and there is model information printed on the colorful cardstock sleeve. The price of this two-pack is $40 with $6 added for USPS Priority mailing with confirmation.
