In 1972, she and her husband, Mark, and 2 children moved to San Francisco in order to launch her career. Joanna's paintings explore passionate and complex relationships. Inspired by artists such as Vermeer, Degas and Sargent, Zjawinska expresses her passion for life, family, Poland and the United States through paintings of fantasy and elegance. Her images are feminine and seductive. Many European and American museums house Zjawinska's works. Having held exhibitions in numerous galleries both here and abroad, Joanna has received much renown for her lush, expressive watercolors and oils as well as for her outstanding collections of limited edition serigraphs.
