Zeiss Microscope Objective, Ph 3 Neofluar 100 oel
|

|
Please note - this is a 3-day auction!
This objective is one of the famed Zeiss Neofluar series - they are well corrected lenses of generally higher aperture than typical achromats. The standard series of Neofluars are not corrected for flatness of field - but they do yield very crisp and contrasty images with superb color correction exceeded only by the apochromat series.
This objective incorporates a phase ring number 3, and so is suitable for phase contrast when used with a phase contrast condenser equipped with a number 3 annulus. Please see my other listings for one such condenser. The objective is corrected for a tube length of 160 mm with cover-slipped samples. (Since it is an immersion objective, the cover-slip requirement is not so rigid, hence the 'dash' after the tube length engraving on the side of the objective). The nomenclature includes the following information:
Ph 3 Neofluar 100 / 1.30 oel
160 / -
Serial number 4049632
It is corrected for an adjustment length of 45 mm, and has the normal RMS thread. It is in superb optical condition with no delamination or marks on the glass. Cosmetically, the lens is also very fine. The lens is spring-loaded and can be locked in a retracted position.
Thank you for looking - no reserve and low starting bid!

Descriptive notes - unless otherwise stated in the above description, all microscope components have been checked for proper operation. If there are any problems they will be noted above under one (or more) of the following categories:
- Optical condition: Blemishes in coatings, scratches, delaminations, fungus, or haziness.
- Cosmetic condition: Notable problems in surface finishes (badly worn paint, names engraved in paint, etc.).
- Mechanical condition: Problems with mechanical functions, such as broken components or parts in need of lubrication.
- Electrical condition: The item is checked for proper function of electronics when appropriate. If unable to test due to incomplete nature of the offering, this is also noted.
Warranty notes - all microscope components are sold without warranty except that the equipment will be as described above. If an item arrives not as described, it may be returned at the buyer's expense provided the following conditions are met:
- instrument should be packed similarly to the way it was received.
- buyer must request a return authorization within 5 days of instrument receipt.
- item must be in the same physical condition as when it left our premises.
Shipping notes - Insurance is required for all purchases exceeding $50.00. Buyer will be assessed only actual shipping and insurance costs. We must be notified in a timely manner if there is any damage to items as a result of shipping. We pack instruments very well, and have never had a damage claim (though rare) denied by any carrier. As a routine, we use USPS for lighter and less valuable items, but strongly recommend using FedEx for heavier and costly items, as their conveyor system seems to be better equipped to handle larger and heavier boxes. We do not use UPS. If size and weight permit, multiple auction lots may be combined to save on shipping costs.
Handling notes - Smaller items have no handling fees associated with them, larger items may have a modest fee to cover packaging materials. These fees will always be stipulated in the item description!
Payment terms - After winning one of our auctions we will send you an email requesting your shipping information. Once we have that you will receive an "invoice" email with the complete billing information, as well as remit-to addresses and other pertinent information. Occasionally, emails do go astray - if you do not hear from us, do not panic! We will do our best to contact you! We request that payment be received within 15 days of the auction closing. We accept bank and cashiers checks as well as money orders (either bank or postal). Personal and Company checks must clear before item can be shipped - this can take a couple of weeks or more.
PLEASE NOTE!
We no longer accept credit cards!
We do welcome payments via PayPal unless it is anticipated
that the final sale price will be very substantial.
If that be the case, it will be so stipulated within the item description.
Foreign bidders - We welcome bidders from Canada and Mexico. Overseas bidders should contact us before bidding to make sure we can ship to your particular country. Bear in mind that shipping costs can be quite prohibitive for heavier or larger items. IMPORTANT NOTICE - USPS no longer offers International Parcel Post as a shipping option. The only way to ship an item Internationally is via Priority or Express Mail - it is VERY expensive - often three to four times what it used to cost for Parcel Post! Up to four pounds, First Class Mail is available as a less expensive option, but you cannot insure First Class. The only method that offers tracking is Express Mail. All export duty, taxes and attendant overseas expenses must be borne by the buyer. All funds must be in US currency. No returns can be accepted from overseas shipments!
