Zeiss Standard 14 Petrographic Pol Polarizing Microscope
The Zeiss Standard Pol has been extremely popular in college geology programs for educational and laboratory work, with superior quality and functionality. This is the Standard 14 version with a built-in 10 watt halogen lamp and a fixed 4-place turret. The microscope has good polarizing filters and clear lenses, and a fine Bertrand lens. The microscope gives excellent images as tested with my basalt slides, and speaking from many years of experience, it is a much better pol scope than any new one you can buy near this price.
The following are included:
-
Zeiss Kpl 8x cross hair pol eyepiece, with reticle focusing and barrel pin
-
Zeiss monocular pol head, with built-in Bertrand lens and sliding analyzer plate with adjustable filter, and a sliding 1/4 wave compensator plate
-
Four-place nose turret with three Zeiss centerable objectives, labeled:
Pol Plan 2.5/0.08 160/-; Pol 10/0.25 160/-; and Pol 50/0.85 160/0.17 w/spring tip
-
centerable pol (red letter) flip-up 0.9 n.a. condenser, with iris and a fixed swing-out polarizer filter and swing-out auxiliary lens
-
large rotary stage with clutch bolts for clicks while rotating and brake lever
-
built-in 10 watt halogen lamp with rotary brightness dial and on-off cord switch, requires North American 115 voltage and plug
-
two stage clips, printer copy of instructions for use, and a new padded nylon zipper case
The objectives show signs of use but lenses are clear, with working centering rings on their barrels. The 50x is an older style and shows loss of chrome on the tip, and some loss of the anti-reflection coating on the outer lens surface, but no major scratches. I have obtained very good interference figures with it. The microscope works very well and all movements are smooth. The stand has an excellent clean, almost-new finish, with only a few small marks, and a good stage surface. This microscope is in fine operating condition, ready for all levels of work. I will warrant that when this microscope leaves my shop, it is complete, clean, adjusted, tested, and functioning as described.
The microscope weighs 6.4 kg in its case, and several more kg will be added with packing, so be warned: overseas shipping will be expensive! I no longer ship out of the country by surface parcel, so it will be by XpressPost, which is faster and has better tracking. I will charge only the actual mailing cost, nothing extra -- please check the shipping calculator before bidding. The microscope is at my shop in New Brunswick, Canada and will be shipped from here. As always, local pickup is free.
International customers: Additional taxes and fees might also be charged by your government, which I cannot calculate for you. Please be aware that we cannot control shipping problems, lack of tracking, rough handling, and slow border customs service, which can add days or weeks to the delivery time. I regret that these have become very common problems that you must accept for international sales. We will pack it carefully, mail it within 2 days of payment, and charge only actual shipping. We will also respond to any questions or concerns.
If you are not satisfied with it, contact me within 7 days of receipt, send everything back in the same good condition, and I will refund your money (not shipping).
