This is the story of the the U.S. Eighth Air Force's elite 56th Fighter Group and their exploits in the skies over Europe during the Second World War, as told by the fighter unit's leader, Colonel Hub Zemke. The 56th Fighter group emerged from the war with more aerial victories than any other in their theater of war, and Colonel Zemke himself had a confirmed kill count of nineteen enemy aircraft. This book recounts a unique piece of military history, told by a man who not only lived through it, but who also helped to shape it. What makes this copy especially unique is that it is autographed and dated by Hub Zemke. This book will make a fine addition to the collection of any military historian. Illustrated with black & white photos, this hardcover First Printing from 1988 is in Good Condition with a Good Dustjacket. There is a former owner's name on the front endsheet.
