This is a fabulous horse fetish with black feet was carved by well known Zuni indian artist Freddie Leekya. The artist's initials F L" are carved on the bottom of the fetish. The horse is carved from Zuni stone (travertine), the eyes are turquoise inaly and the hooves are jet or pen shell. The horse measures 3 5/8 " long, 2 1/4" tall and 1 1/8" wide. A gift box is included with purchase.
The horse represents swiftness, strength and healing. The horse is one of only 2 fetishes ( the other being the raven)that have innate healing powers. American Indians have used fetishes throughout history, especially the Southwestern Indians. A fetish is considered to have magical powers.
