Beautifully painted antique 19th century version of extensive religious scene after the unmatched Flemish master Pieter Pauwels RUBENS - Peter Paul RUBENS. The painting is oil on tin. On verso is a very old label in German that states ~ Die Gefangennehmung Christi (Christ taken prisoner) v. P.P. Rubens (by Peter Paul Rubens) An old number 111 also appears along with other notes I can't make out.
The painting is in very good condition. See pics.
Size of tin panel is 17 3/4" x 14 1/2" ( 45 cm x 36.8 cm) . It is in an old gold painted rococo frame that suits nicely. No signature as typical. Framed size is 22" x 18 3/4" .
The painting displays beautifully. I have not yet found this image in Rubens listings and wonder if any of you have seen this title or image ? If you can't afford the 50 million a genuine 1600's Rubens may cost you this beauty may do till then. GUARANTEED TO BE AN ANTIQUE OIL PAINTING ~ NOT A PRINT.
