History:  Lilian

       Lilian is located south of the City of Arak (formerly Sultanabad) is a small area called the Kemerah about ten miles west of Khomein. The majorty of population are Persian Armenians.
    The classical carpets of Isfahan were Armenian and the leading traders of the time were Armenian. One innovation was grants to Armenian Merchants that in effect made them partners with the crown.
    Lilian(Lylyan) carpets are thick, attractive, exceptionally long-wearing rugs made by Armenians in Iran. These rugs are related to Sarouk rugs but are made with sturdy single wefted construction.
    The carpets that are made in Lilian usually have a curvature in their patterns. The pink color wefts is the main characteristic of Lilian rugs and carpets.The majority of Lilian rugs have traditional floral patterns, but geometric ones are also seen. A truly beautiful Lilian rug will be a brilliant addition to any room setting. Lilian rugs and carpets are very durable. Pink is the dominate color in Lilian rugs. You can find khaki,brown color too.
