 c1840s Octavo Litho Gold-Leaf Valentine Gent Reads

w Envelope Handfinished Watercolor + Applied Flowers

An 8 1/4" x 5 3/8" single-fold lithograph valentine. c1840. Applied lithograph center cartouche of young boy reading presumably a love letter. The lithograph has been hand finished with watercolor highlights. The printed silver border surrounding the cartouche has watercolor flowers and greenery, plus applied watercolor flowers. The embossed page border has applied gold leaf. Also includes a gilt printed envelop addressed to Miss Sarah Long, Portland, ME. The inside page is blank. Condition: excellent color. Overall excellent. Light corner bend. See additional images below.

We ship through the Postal Service and recommend insurance on your purchase, as we cannot accept responsibility for lost or damaged goods.  If payment is not received within two weeks of the completion of the auction, we reserve the right to relist or sell the item to the underbidder.
