Hussainabad is situated in west-central Iran, near Hamadan. Hussainabad rugs are frequently very long runners, and usually have an all-over pattern of small repeated fish throughout the field, with or without a small diamond-shaped central medallion. The coloring is predominantly shades of red, navy blue, and ivory.
Historic Hamedan is an ancient Persian city (the second oldest city of Iran), which lies at about 6500 feet above sea level in the rugged mountains of north-western Iran. The city itself, along with the many villages and districts surrounding it, produces a good portion of the tribal rugs of Iran. Some areas around Hamedan include Enjelas, Chenar, Derjazin, Hussainabad, Nahavand, and the Kurdish districts of Khamseh, and many others between Hamedan and Arak. All rugs produced in the areas around Hamedan are marketed inside the city. Located just east of Kurdistan, obvious traces of Kurdish and some Turkish influence can be seen on its peaceful people who have managed, despite centuries of outside interference, to keep their special talents alive. All rugs have a wool pile colored with natural vegetable dyes. Very rarely is silk seen in this region. The foundation of the rug is usually cotton, and in some cases wool or goat hair. The patterns are usually simple geometric arrangements with vibrant primary colors. Sometimes small animals or garden elements are seen, and often the famous Herati design.

each city are particular to that city alone and although famous
designs have been imitated elsewhere in the country a few times
, they have never been duplicated. Iran is also the place where
many other styles of rugs are made, such as Turkish, Caucasian,
Armenian, Kazak, Afghanistan & India. The
Persian rug is a big chapter in the book of Iran's culture
because it visually shows the biggest obsessions in Persian
culture, which are the beauty of nature, literature, and true
love. These are what make the Persian rug on
of the most prestigious things to be placed in any home. |

KPSI: ( knot per Square inch ) the number of knots per linear
inch along the warp and
the weft tell us what is the KPSI in one rug. You multiply both
numbers on the warp and the weft from back of the carpet. For
example 10 knots along the warp and 12 knots along the weft would
give a KPSI of 120. RAJ is the number of knots on warp or weft
per 7 linear centimeter. Persian rugs usually count with RAJ
instead of KPSI. But for your convenience we use KPSI
here. keep in mind higher KPSI does not necessarily
mean a better quality rug. the number of kpsi is only depended on
technique of the weave. |

business days of receipt. We will be happy to refund your full purchase price
less shipping and handling.

Described rug condition is based upon the age of the rug.
Perfect and excellent condition does not necessarily mean a full pile as in a
brand new rug. In an older rug, it can mean not showing the
foundation and having some pile. And also, keep in mind that some types of rugs
don't have a thick pile even when they are brand new.
