This is a stunning solid oak antique pump organ made by the Beckwith Organ Company Chicago, IL around 1910. It is estimated that <2% of all antique pump organs have more than 11 stops. This one has the full 17 stops, the original stool, and even the original song book. As you know a vast majority of organs out there are also made of the softer walnut and typically are much smaller. As you can see, this one is HUGE! It is approx 4 feet wide, 2 feet deep and 7 feet tall. I'm guessing it weighs around 300-400#s. I am the second owner, it was obtained from the original family whose grandmother originally purchased it new. My dad completely refinished the detailed carved oak organ several years ago and it remains in outstanding shape. The keys are currently all depressed, as I recall this happening previously and my dad had someone come to the house and "reglue" the straps for the bellows. This is a common repair, but the person whom originally reparied it has since passed away. I do not know how to play it, so it really isn't much of a concern to be honest. I did open the back access panel, and it appears to be very clean but I just do not have any idea how to repair it myself. One key has the top coating partially chipped off, and one stop label is missing. I recall this one was missing when we purchased it for the original owners. Feel free to contact me for any questions or offers. I will also consider trades as well for just about anything of comparable value. Obviously this cannot be shipped. Thanks for looking! Pictures of the stool added as requested! |
