This calculator has been updated with the latest eBay fee rates as of March 15, 2009. It supports both Fixed Price and Auction Format listings, all of eBay's listing upgrades, and their new Powerseller Discount. It also includes a reverse fee calculator that can tell you what price you would need to sell your item for (or what amount you would need to charge for Shipping & Handling) to receive the exact amount you want after fees.

To calculate your eBay fees you first choose what Category you are listing your item in and what Listing Format you are using. This is necassary because with eBay's latest fee changes the two formats now carry different fee rates and even the category in which you list your item can affect your fee rate as well. If you're using the Fixed Price Format you simply enter your auction's Buy It Now price or if you're using the Auction Format you enter your auction's Opening and Closing Price (and optionally a Reserve Price). If you're creating a Multiple Item Dutch Auction you would enter your auction's "Lowest Successful Bid" into the Closing Price box. When using the standard Auction Format you also have the option of including Buy It Now as a separate listing upgrade. The correct fee for Buy It Now will always be displayed next to the Buy It Now option in the Listing Upgrades box, and will automatically be updated as you enter your Buy It Now Price.

You may also notice blue arrows pointing at various words in the calculator. These arrows mean there is more information available. By clicking on the arrows, or on the words next to the arrows, it will open up more advanced options in the calculator. For example, if you click on the word Total eBay Fees you will see a breakdown of your eBay fees, or if you click on the word Opening Price you will see an option to enter a Reserve Price.

If you're selling more than one item in a single auction enter the number of items you are offering for sale in the Quantity box. By default, the calculator will assume that all of your items successfully sold, but, if only some of your items sold click on the word Quantity to open up a new field called Items Successfully Sold. Here you can type in the number of items you actually sold to have your fees and profit calculated for just those items. Another tip to remember when creating multiple item auctions is that when you enter amounts into the calculator it's expecting per item amounts. For example, when the calculator asks for your Shipping & Handling, Cost of Postage, or Cost to Acquire what it's really asking for is your Shipping & Handling per item, Cost of Postage per item, and Cost to Acquire per item.

I also want to better clarify the difference between Shipping & Handling and Cost of Postage. In the calculator you use the Shipping & Handling box to enter the amount you charge your buyer for shipping and handling and you use the Cost of Postage box to enter your actual cost of postage. By default, the calculator will assume these two amounts are the same and so whenever you enter an amount into the Shipping & Handling box it will copy it into your Cost of Postage box, unless you decide to change it.

The Listing Upgrades box allows you to choose which listing upgrades you may be using in your auction and allows you to easily see and edit their prices. You may notice the 30-Day Listing upgrade has a price of $0.00. Does this mean it's free? Well yes, but only for items created using the Fixed Price Format. Selecting the 30-day Listing option will not cost you any extra, however it will increase the prices of some of the other listing upgrades.

Also  you can choose whether or not you want to include PayPal fees and if so, what you PayPal fee rate is. If you don't know what your PayPal fee rate is, you can click on the sign to find out. You can also choose whether or not you want to include eBay'sPowerrseller Discount, and if so, what your Final Value Fee discount is.

Finally, the calculator also comes with a series of Editable Fee Tables. By clicking on the appropriate category you can see and edit all of the different fee rates used by the calculator for that category.
