This is a salvage vehicle and is being sold for parts only. It is not operational or street legal. Therefore, upon purchase, it will need to be either towed or put on a trailer. This item is NOT eligible for the eBay Motors Vehicle Purchase Protection Program.
This is a Fixed Price format listing -
With the Fixed Price format:
  • Buyers can purchase your item immediately at the price you set
  • You can also accept Best Offers from buyers
  • There is no bidding.
  • Offers below a reasonable amount are declined automatically with no notice to seller.

Listings may also be set to approval for buying/offering to prevent scammers from ending listings prematurely.  You must email prior to trying to buy a vehicle.  It should be noted that the lines denoting a salvage vehicle are added by eBay and that what a buyer chooses to do with a vehicle once they own it is entirely their business.

Parts Car, Hot Rod/Rat Rod project, or restorable: 1940 Buick Roadmaster coupe. One of 3,921 built and the only 2-door body style for the 70, 80 or 90 series that year. This shares the large body platform with the Cadillac. I like this car, and don't really care if I sell it or not, but if someone has the right offer I might let it go.

Car is missing rocker stainless, gravel shields, taillights, grille divider, radiator, and a few other pieces. Frame is solid, floors are solid except license-plate sized areas each side front by doors; has some rust below trunk and over rear fender crowns; grille, chin pan, lower left door. Some side stainless, bumpers all inside car. Even has original jack in the trunk. Front rolls, rear currently does not (brake shoes). Recent paint to keep the rust at bay a little longer. Motor (320.2 CI large Buick straight eight) is set up, trans does shift. Would build into a street rod pretty easily; 50's Buick nailhead may bolt up, and a 51-54 Buick differential bolts in allowing a more highway friendly gear ratio. Even in a restoration a 1951-52 Roadmaster engine block would be more advantageous since by then they'd been converted to use insert bearings rather than babbit.

Price is right out of Old Cars Price Guide for a #5 car, that is a complete car in need of total restoration, not wrecked or weathered to the point of only being useful for parts. I have some 40-odd photos of this, e-mail to see more.

WE ARE NOT A SALVAGE YARD - WE DO NOT PART OUT CARS

Terms: 10% or $500, whichever is greater, deposit up front, not refundable. Sold As-Is, this is an old car and has rust issues, buyers are welcome and invited to inspect cars in person prior to bidding in case there are problems which I am not aware of. 30 days storage is included with the car, more time can be arranged in advance on cars that are paid in full at $50/month. Time is flexible depending on weather concerns. Unresponsive or uncooperative buyers may be assessed $10 per day storage if necessary, but we try not to let things get to that point.

How to pay:  In person (although we can always pretend the postman is you for the sake of argument).  eBay in their infinite (lack of) wisdom has chosen to make Paypal, in person payment, and other credit processing the only acceptable payments on most items.  Although regular vehicle listings are exempt, they forgot to exempt this category.  So be aware that to use Paypal to pay for this item, it will need to be taken apart into pieces small enough they can be shipped via FedEx or UPS.  I can't imagine what the expense of that would be, given some parts would have to literally be destroyed to be small enough for them to accept and ship, and it would require easily hundreds of packages.  Any questions, just let me know.

eBay forces me to include this redundant and confusing statement in this listing - their words, not mine: “This vehicle is being sold for parts only and is not operational or street legal. Therefore, upon purchase, it will need to be either towed or trailered. eBay encourages its members to learn about their state laws governing vehicle sales prior to the sale or purchase of a vehicle.”
