This auction is for a brand new 1955 1956 1957 Chevy car Manual Rack and Pinion Kit.  If you love your Tri-5 Chevy but hate the way it steers, then this rack and pinion kit is for you.  This rack will shave almost 30 pounds off of the weight while almost completely eliminating bump steer.  Plus, it is a bolt-in unit that requires no chassis modification.  This is for a MANUAL steering rack, which is ideal for racing applications (but still a nice upgrade over the factory box on your street car).  We have the power racks available in our other auctions.

A few notes on installation:

• The rack and pinion is mounted to the brackets using the provided hardware and the unit mounts in the stock holes from the factory steering system.  The main bracket mounts to the same three bolt pattern as the factory steering box on the driver's side and the two bolt pattern for the idler-arm on the passenger side. This bracket holds the rack and pinion in the same plane as center link from the stock steering.

• If your Chevy has clearance for the factory center link then you should have clearance for our Tri-5 rack. The Rack and Pinion rests in the same place as that factory center drag link with a slightly bigger diameter.  

This kit includes the rack and brackets, new steering arms, and outer tie rod ends.  This kit will work with stock and 2" drop spindles; some minor modifications need to be made to the steering arms for the drop spindles.

Finally, this kit is complete with the correct shaft kit to attach this manual rack to an aftermarket steering column with a 1" DD or 3/4-36 spline shaft.  This includes columns from Flaming River, IDIDIT, and Billet Specialties.  It includes the stainless U-Joints, steering shaft, and steering coupler necessary to finish the installation.  This is the most complete kit you will find for your Tri-5 Chevy car!
