1958 Edsel 6 pass
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Up for sale is a RARE 1958 Bermuda wood wagon. I purchased this car from an Old Hippie Surfer (2nd owner), from San Diego, 15 years ago. He bought it from one of the original family members who said that his family bought it new in 1958 from Anthony Edsel Motors in San Francisco CA. Were it was driven to there ranch in the Hi elevation mountains above San Francisco. This story makes sense, because of the school sticker on the back glass, that reads Chester High School, with a school mascot of a valcano. (very retro). Some time during the course they buned a hole in one of the tops of the pistons and one cylinder was sleeved and piston was replaced by the dealer. Do to the high elevation they ran it to lean! I have the original series of lic.plates that came with the car yellow and black CA. (NHP 823) with a matching key fob very cool. And the second series of plates that were mandatory issued in 1963 a good year for me, my birth year. Black and yellow CA. (ATD 290) which are on the car with 1 Anthony Motors lic. frame. I have driven the Edsel off and on. A short time in San Diego CA. I moved it to Phoenix AZ. Then Eureka Springs Arkansas. I have'nt driven it in a couple of years. The factory Holly carb needs to be rebuilt. The accelerator pump is bad and leaks fuel around the sides of the carb. With a battery and fuel it does turn over and fire off. The engine is a 361 cu.in.V8 FE Big Block, with a factory holly carborator. Automatic Transmission Shifts good, but the factory push button control box was by passed, and a floor shift was added 40 years ago, which is very common. All the original components are still their. The other options are, power steering, power brakes, dual exhaust, radio, backup lites and widshield washers. I installed a mild competition cam. Retro 15" 1969 Shelby wheels with hoosier radial tires in front, and hoosier drag radials in back. The car has some rust but it is very repairable. I will explain. The floor boards are nice with the exception of a siver dollar size hole under accelerator pedel. And a touch around the rear body mounts. Both the lower front fenders need metal repair panels(same as 57 Ford). Both outer rocker panels need repair panels of which i have 1 or 2 of, ( 57 Ford). Both outer quarters of which i have both.(same as 57 ford). A little rust in (LF corner of hood), (RH B piller), (under LR tail lite) And (inside bottom of tailgate). All repairable. I have an extra windshield and the original wheel covers. I have a new roll of 3M woodgrain, (hard to find). The chrome and stainless is all their and good shape. The hard to find tail lite lenses with chrome trim 58 Edsel wagons only! are real nice! The headliner is remarkable,and interior is suprisingly not bad with the exception of where the driver sits. The windshield and drivers glass is cracked. The body has no filler\bondo! Original body panels! Interior is all original untouched! Over all 99% complete survivor status. The Edsel is very restoreable or just drive it the way she is. Winning bidder to pay $500.00 deposit within 24 hours and full payment within 5 days. Bidding starts at $800.00 Good Luck!
