Our featured Speedster has a lineage that spans only 3 proud and pampering owners and now it..s time for this concours quality winning Speedster to have a new home. We'll take a few moments and briefly review the Speedster history for those of you who are relatively new to the collector market. The best known convertible model of the Speedster, introduced in 1954 possessing a low, raked windshield (which could be removed for weekend racing), bucket seats, and minimal folding top, the Speedster was an instant hit. The 356A Speedster often featured a 1.6 liter, air cooled, overhead valve engine producing 60 horsepower and had a top speed of 90 miles per hour.

Now that the baseline has been established, it will be very apparent why our offering is a very special motorcar. Silver metallic, two stage, Spies Hecker paint was applied for a brilliant lustrous finish over, what has to be one of the most beautifully designed motorcars ever. Carrera gauges were installed and are accented by a custom fabricated mahogany eyebrow and an original Nardi steering wheel was added for sportiness and congruency. Period correct German square weave carpet was installed with original style black leatherette upholstery. Here are some of the engine differentiators that demonstrate why you will enjoy an enhanced motoring experience: built by Ray Litz of Competition Engineering forge true 1885cc pistons and cylinders Norris 107 camshaft with 304 degrees duration, 0.442" lift,  Hirth roller bearing crank, lightened flywheel, 180mm clutch disk, conservatively generating 125+ hp. Jim Canstas fabricated this Carrera style exhaust system to compliment engine performance and to produce a wonderful exhaust note. Four wheel disc brakes and alloy 5 1/2 inch Porsche Fuchs with Yokohama tires reduce the un-sprung weight.

Even though this pristine 1958 356A Speedster was recently completed only a few months ago, it has created enthusiasm, excitement, and respect at all the Concours Shows attended. In fact, it has been chosen as the overall "People's Choice Award" for the Peachstate PCA Rennfest 2009 and most recently, the prestigious Hilton Head Concours D'Elegance and Motoring Festival.
