1973 Kawasaki Z1 900. Very low vin number, 5849. Chassis and engine restoration just completed. Road tested for several months and several hundred miles. This bike runs and drives perfect! Very original, this bike has the original paint it left the factory with. This bike basically spent its life as a tourer with a Vetter fairing mounted on front. This bike has always been a complete original bike and not a collection of parts found from other bikes. Some parts have been replaced in the restoration but ALL parts that were removed from the bike are included in this auction.
The motor was completely torn down, inspected and given the new parts it needed to be a reliable runner again. Parts and labor include; new exhaust guides, valve springs, heavy duty cam chain, original pistons with new rings (3 piece oil rings), crank is straight, trans looks perfect, has original hollow cams. All the original covers are on this motor. The chain oiler system is complete but is not connected at this time. The spark plug wires have “1972 “ them! I have complete pictures of the restoration and every part inside this motor and can email them to you in a zip file if you send me your email address.
The chassis has been powder coated to match the original factory black. Some other black pieces were also powder coated in this same fashion and they include; headlight bucket, foot peg brackets, kick stand and center stand, and triple trees. The steering head has tapered bearing in it now. The exhaust is an original 1975 Z1 system with brand new baffles, on pipe has a patch welded on it. It’s a very solid system and is not on the verge of falling apart, the hole appeared to have been rubbed in. The swing arm bushings were replaced. Has aftermarket shocks on it. Original seat. Both wheels have good chrome and have date codes from 1972. The rear fender was rechromed. New IRC tires that match what would have been on it in 73.
I may be missing a few things but if you ask for the pictures from me they will tell more of a story then I can write here. I will also answer any questions and post them here as they are asked.
