Well, it's been an interesting week after the sale of this lincoln. But, as the listing states, if payment isn't recieved within 7 days, we will relist. I was told his car he had that was sold ended up not being sold so he had to back out. I have never run into this before so I contacted eBay and they said I just relist. So, please!... have your cash in hand before you bid and be sure you will follow through. Of all my sales here on eBay I have never run into this so I suppose I was due, huh. So, please bid what you are comfortable based on my description and we will all be comfortable. I'm again offering to the highest bidder at no reserve.
So, Up for Auction @ No Reserve.
1976 Lincoln Mark IV Cartier “Lipstick Edition” w/Factory Moon Roof…One Owner…52,310 miles. No Reserve.
I am offering this very nice one owner ‘76 Lipstick Edition Lincoln Mark IV“. Please let me preface this listing by saying I am not new to listing and selling classic vehicles on eBay. Over the past few years, I have offered some very nice and some not very nice cars for sale here. A couple just recently as a matter of a fact. In every case, I represent each accordingly. This is demonstrated accurately by my 100% selling feedback. In fact, if you peruse my comments you’ll read I am generally more critical of my cars than the buyers are. Most comment the cars are better than they expected and have not had a negative comment to date. My intention is to keep this going.
Here’s some quick history and details
I just… I mean just acquired this car from a gentleman who lives just around the corner from me. The car was purchased by his wife for her 1st husband late in 1975. The car was given as a gift to him and was driven sparingly by the couple, as you can tell by the mileage, being only 52310. He passed many years ago, she remarried to the very nice gentleman I ended up purchasing the car from. The title was put in his name in several years ago. I was approached by him a couple weeks ago to come take a look at his “gem”(he called it). He knew I like old Mustangs and such and wondered if I would be interested in the car. For no other reason is that he just doesn’t drive it any more. Vern told me he had taken the car in 4 years ago and had it serviced, tuned and had the A/C converted to R134, which by the way does work. They had new tires installed at that time as well. He and his wife drove the car a few times that summer and the car was parked in his attached garage then and that is where it sat until I put a key in the ignition and drove it home. It’s not a long story, but it’s accurate.
I honestly don’t know a lot about these cars but from my limited research have found this to be the car to have in 1976. So, I won’t insult you with statistics and excerpts from magazine articles from 35 years ago. What I will tell you is this. This car is in very nice condition, and was until recently owned by the original purchasers. There are no scratches, dings, dents. the original door tag is still affixed to the inner driver door jam. The car was “Zebarted” when new and still retains the little plugs in the door openings and throughout the car for its application. The underside obviously was done as well and is in excellent condition. The exterior paint has a terrific finish to it.Although it has had one repaint I wouldn't call it perfect but nice just the same. There isn’t even a stone chip in the hood. Couple of chips in the wheel well lips from stones coming off the tires. The glass is all good. The bright work and chrome are in good shape but does show some aging. Most is very nice but the lip along the trunk and the chrome under the drivers side headlight does have some pitting. Trying to be very specific so there are no suprises. Still nice looking for its age. As mentioned the tires are near new, wheels have a nice polish to them yet too. As mentioned, the car was built with the factory moon roof, and that operates good but the motor is getting weak. A pretty rare feature I guess. It is worth mentioning, I haven’t detailed this car. It is exactly the way I purchased it, less the dust atop the car, which I did wash off. Only negative if can call it one is the factory vinyl top has shrunk up in both rear corners, see the photo for a better idea. It's not loose or pulled up, just shrunken.
As far as the interior goes, it looks quite nice. The white and lipstick color(inlayed) leather shows little wear. The "lipstick" inlayed area on the seats does show a bit of fading but not bad. The rest of the interior including the carpet, headliner, dash and door panels are all in great condition as well. If I had to point out a bad thing, the vinyl door pulls on the driver and passenger doors have some cracking and could be replaced if you so choose, but that’s pretty much it.
As far as mechanically, the car is darn impressive. All the gauges work, lights all work, headlight doors open and shut properly, and all the many power options are working too. To name some include the windows, seats, radio, clock, speedo, moon roof, heater and A/C and so on. As mentioned to, when I purchased the car, I did drive it home. I forgot how these cars floated. Maybe that’s why they call them “Floaters”?? Anyway, it drives nice and stops good too. I have been able this week to drive the car out on the highway. It does drive nice but I need to mention the tires while cold had evidence of the car sitting for 4 years. The tires felt as though they had a flat spot as least in one of them. And, after the car sat for about 6 days, the battery was dead again. The battery may need replacing or a draw. Maybe being too specific but I want you to get what you expect. No surprises!
From the trunk you will see the carpet was removed. I was told something was spilled on it years ago, it was removed and never replaced. It does however show how completely solid this car truly is though. I do have a clear title, hold the original owners manual and some other various documents.
I think, or hope I guess, this description gives you a good idea of the condition and history of this Lincoln. It isn't perfect but it’s nice and leave it at that. I think the pictures will do a better job than I could ever write here. That being said, if you would like pictures of anything I don’t post, please ask and I would be happy to send those to you as well. So, as mentioned, I am listing the car at No Reserve, as I have my last several here on Ebay. Good luck, bid a bunch and be the last bidder. It is NO Reserve. Last bidder get’s the car. Clean and Easy…Thanks for reading my listing. Whew...I think that's it!
