EAST COAST SCOUT & LIGHT NATIONALS FIRST PLACE WINNER: STREET SCOUT II, June 2002

1980 International Harvester Scout II Rallye. 304, 2 barrel V8, 4 speed  transmission (no granny gear), 3:31 axles. Power Steering, Power Disc Brakes. Blaupunkt AM/FM CD stereo, 4 speakers, 2 in doors, 2 surface mount "home audio" style in rear. Cobra CB, Console, Leather Wrapped Steering Wheel, Sun Tach. Grille Guard, Fog and Driving Lights. Thule Roof Racks with home made welded low profile basket. This can be removed if you do not like it. Factory "turbine style" wheels. Omaha Orange with a Russet Nylon/Vinyl interior with no tears or rips, excellent black carpeting with floor mats. Rear seat flips forward for cargo. The receiver style hitch in the rear, it will use a 2" square hitch assembly. This Scout looks like one you may have found on a used car lot in 1982, but always garaged.

A little History. I bought this in the spring of 2007 from the owner who did a complete frame off restoration somewhere around 2000-2001. The body came from the southwest and is rust free. No bondo, No fiberglass. The odometer was showing 81,000 miles. No way of verifying when a vehicle is restored like this, but it drives beautifully, so I believe it. During 2007 and 2008 I put roughly 2500 miles on it. 1000 miles ago, in 2008 I had a dual exhaust put on, with flowmasters and it sounds sweet. Installed a K&N Air Filter and put the 4 brand new B.F.Goodrich All Terrain LT 235 75R x 15 tires on. Last fall I had to replace the fuel pump, and while I was at it, new plugs, wires, cap, rotor and had the carb rebuilt because of ethonol gas. I checked the brakes and the pads and linings are like new, I'm sure they were done when the previous owner did the restoration.

The 3:31 gears allow it to run at about 2400-2500 RPM on the highway at 65-70, fuel mileage ranges from 12-13 in stop and go and 14-17 in mixed driving.

Note there are two extra door panels and the original console is included.

Look at the photos, especially underneath, you won't find a nicer one, needs nothing, you can drive it cross country tomorrow. Obviously no warranty, there are some paint touch ups from chips etc, but it is meant to be driven. It has been restored for 8-10 years and still looks and runs great. There is a crack in the paint, see the photo where the right front fender meets the cowl. Also where the side view mirrors are screwed into the doors there are a couple of "spider web" cracks because the mirrors were loose. I have a pint of color matched touchup to go with the truck. There is a small, almost unnoticeable rock chip in the windshield on the passenger side.

I am only selling it because I just do not have the time to enjoy it.

You can buy a nice Scout that needs some body work and paint for $7000 to $8000, or needs some mechanical work, put $6,000 to $8,000 into it and have a nice $12,000 Scout, this truck is totally turn key and ready to enjoy.

I am in the northwest corner of North Carolina, about 50 miles west of I-77. I encourage you to come check it out if you are interested. Please do not bid because you want to check it out, do your homework. I will consider delivery on an open car trailer for $2.50 per mile, one way according to Mapquest, If you decide to take me up on this, let me know before you bid so I can verify where you want me to go, don't expect me to hop in the truck and head to Seattle. I am easy to deal with, but I expect honesty. Email with questions, I will do my best to answer them.

This Scout was garaged by the previous owner and I have kept it garaged since I bought it.

Scout sold as-is where is.

YOU MUST HAVE AT LEAST 5 POSITIVE FEEDBACKS OR I WILL CANCEL YOUR BID, IF YOU DO NOT CONTACT ME IF YOU WANT TO BID.

A: Hi, there is no rust on the body, the restoration involved a complete frame off with a rust ree replacement body from the southwest. All the weatherstripping was replaced when it was done as the body was a stripped shell. I... Continue reading
