Like a number of inboard manufacturers, Calabria now offers a wakeboard-specific model derived from one of its more popular tow boats. For this central California builder, the obvious choice for conversion was the popular Sport Comp XTS. "Obvious" because, unlike the flat hulls that are typical on three-event inboards, Calabria's XTS rides on a deep-V hull. Not only does this design provide a better ride in rough water, it also creates well-defined low-speed wakes. In addition, the boat's V-shaped keel enhances tracking ability at mid-range and boarding speeds, as it provides more lateral surface area than the add-on fins common to most inboard designs. Another design feature unique to the XTS is the placement of the fuel tank. While most inboard builders place the fuel tank in the stern, where it draws the stern down, Calabria moves the tank forward into the hull's midsection to create a more balanced running profile and to free the stern section for a large storage locker. *Test-team measurement Wakeboard Specific Test Wake size 2 Shape Rampy and clean; easy to see with a good, solid kick to it.
