BMW’s top of the line 1150RTL came with factory installed
radio/cassette (Ipod docks work), really loud Bosch horns, and black paint. It
has been my ride since August ’04. Other than the initial 600 mile check and
ABS brake fluid change, I have performed all maintenance on the bike. I figure,
if I can have my 750 bevel drive Ducati engines down to their cranks, oil
changes and valve adjustments on Bimmers is a walk. It is. It has just had a
complete oil change, using Amsoil in the trans and final drive, along with BMW
20/50 non-synthetic in the sump.I think
I can say that it is finally broken in. A switch to synthetic is now
due, though the BMW oil is wonderful stuff. I recently changed the fuel filter
and connectors. It is running Michelin Pilot Road 2’s. Probably the best tires
I have used. Lots of wear left. The bike comes with the standard heated grips
and electric windscreen, along with the factory top case, 3M bag reflectors,
thick Cee Bailey top case pad, seat jacks, and a near perfect screen, as it was
replaced with a Cee Bailey unit during the first month. I have applied thick 3M
film to the back of the tank and headlight. There are some scratches on the
front fender and right body work. The bike has never been down while moving.
I’ve tipped it over in the garage twice. The scratches were from trying to
avoid its garage mate ( ’70 Norton ), which I recently sold. There are the various stone chips on the
mirrors, and boot scuffs on the bags. You’ll do worse. This was to be my ‘last
bike’, but last year’s knee replacement does not allow me to get back on the
peg comfortably, requiring the purchase of a couch bike. Gads, the next one
will probably be a trike. Someone shoot me. In any case, the BMW has been a
fantastic bike, which has taken me and my wife from Utah
to Newfoundland
over the years. Shipping will be the responsibility of the new owner, though I
can help get it to a Forward Air terminal, if required. Great way to ship. Good
luck bidding.
