Simply put, if you need the best clutch kit on the market, and you are the kind of person who likes to do a job once, and do it right- there really is no option except the Barnett Performance Clutch Kit. Each kit comes factory sealed (not slapped together from parts bags at the dealer's parts counter) and includes everything you need to properly replace your old or slipping clutch.

If your kit includes them-the metal discs are precision cut (not stamped like all of the other clutch manufacturers) and EVERY component is tested for quality and consistency before it leaves the factory. In addition, each plate has micro-indentions in it to maximize friction while still allowing oil pools to form for maximum lubriction.

Look above in the attribute section.  Do not assume it comes with metal plates just because the picture has them!  Ask if you are unsure, some bikes never need to have the steels replaced.  In addition, some kits are just for bikes with a "spring conversion" and the kit will state so in the attributes.  Basically, if you are unsure email us and we'll tell you exactly what's included.

The friction pads (or fibers as some folks call them) are made of the highest grade materials with no expense spared.  Either Kevlar or Carbon Fiber The concept is simple- make the material super-light, but super strong and it can't cost $500 to make a clutch. That's exactly what Barnett does with the new performance clutch kit. Make it simple, include everything you need and do it with the highest quality products.  All kits include the friction pads.

HOW DO I KNOW IF MY CLUTCH IS GOING OUT?

Great question. There are three signs and tests you can do

  1. Clutch slips under heavy load. This is the most common clutch problem and easily fixed with our kit. You simply put the bike in 2nd gear, travel at 30MPH and give it a handful off throttle. Do the RPMs jump with no increase in acceleration? The fibers are worn down and need to be replaced.
  2. The springs are old. This is actually a combination of bad METAL plates and bad springs. How to test? Fully adjust out the clutch lever so there is no slack. PULL IN THE CLUTCH LEVER. APPLY the front brake. With the bike in first gear, tap the starter button (do not start the bike) Did the bike lurch forward at all? Bad springs
  3. Contaminated oil. This only applies to wet-clutch bikes, and there is nothing you can do except change the oil and replace the clutch. Make sure to use a high-quality motor oil, synthetic, synthetic blend or standard dino-oil are all fine with Barnett, but use the oil that the manufacturer suggests for your bike. Of the three clutch failures, this is the worst. It could cause the clutch basket to wear prematurely and sieze the motor at high RPM.
