I am selling our 1987 Bluebird bus, this bus was a 64-passenger handicap bus, and is approximately 33’ long. We have converted this bus into a car hauler for our off road racing to get from one event to another. This is our 4th bus we have used for this conversion, and as far as I know all 3 priors are still on the road today.
It has been detrimental to saving time and money in our traveling efforts, and they have been the most reliable maintenance free vehicles we have ever owned. A district mechanic has done most all maintenance.
Miles: 162,843
Engine: 8.2 ltre 250 hp Detroit diesel
Trans: 643 Allison automatic w/ trans brake.
Tires: 11x 22.5
This bus has all new belts and hoses and has just had its fall service, with new coolant, oil and Tran fluid, all new filters and is ready to go. Tires are in great shape, this bus runs down the highway at 70 to 75 mph. The bus will generally take any paved hill at 50 with a Jeep on the back, no trailer and get 11 to 13 mpg depending on outside temperature. We often tow a 24’ enclosed trailer behind the bus with at least one car in it also, the highway does not change but definitely slows down on the hills. The best feature about towing with this bus is it will stop as fast as almost any car on the road with a full load. It requires no CDL if licensed as an RV, and is incredibly easy to drive. The back dimensions are 13’long 8’ wide 6’ tall rounded to the nearest 6”.
This bus has a waterproof canvas canopy on the back, has a freshwater tank, 12 volt water pump, and shower, TV, DVD, CD player, and 2000w inverter. We have saved a new water heater, stainless steel sink, and stainless 2 burner plate, to put in and have just never got around to it, which would also be included if the buyer wishes. Our plans were to install a small 110 ac in the back, that is why the inverter is so big. This bus has 1 tan leather driver seat, 1 captains chair, and 1 couch, with two bunks.
This bus costs me very little money annually to maintain. If I had more room I would not sell it, but with the new ones we have started the last one has got to go. I would trust this bus to go anywhere, it is truly ready to go down the road, I just bought an MCI bus from Florida that I was told it was ready to go, then I spent $2000 before even leaving florida, this bus is not that kind of ready to go, it is in incredible shape.
IM/inspection $30.00
Liability insurance yearly $138.00
Annual preventative maintenance is about 250.00
