This is the real deal, people! This is a 1993 Geo Metro XFi in extremely good condition! The pictures and videos I have provided, below, will speak volumes with respect to the condition of the car. Gas has jumped up to $2.70/ gallon recently here in the Cincinnati area as of today, 10/26; how much higher is it going to go?

I bought this earlier this year, expecting gas prices to jump again to well over $3 a gallon during the hurricane season. I replaced a fender and had the thing painted with the intention of keeping it as a 2nd car. However, I recently acquired a new pick-up truck, and no longer have a need or room for this little Geo. I know, I know, there are always going to be skeptics who say that getting 50+ mpg from a little 3-cylinder like this is impossible. Well, it's possible! Of course, I am able to do so by taking meticulous care of my vehicles, keeping the tires properly inflated, engine tuned up, driving with some common sense, and so forth. Failure to do even the most basic preventative maintenance will have a considerable negative impact on ones' fuel economy. Plus, the way one handles and drives a car is another important factor. Floor the accelerator when the light turns green and your fuel economy is going to drop. Start out slow from a red light and your fuel economy will improve. So, to those who say that 50+ mpg is impossible with a little tiny car like this, then I am doing the IMPOSSIBLE! Your actual fuel economy is going to depend upon all the factors I mentioned in this paragraph, but if I can do it, anyone can do it! Click here (or copy & paste the link into a new web browser window) to see what others are saying about THEIR gas-sipping Geos:

http://www.hybridcars.com/forums/they-need-bring-t819.html

This little Geo has been nicely maintained throughout its 16-year life. As you can likely see by the pictures, there is hardly a hint of rust on the body panels. There is some surface rust underneath but, come on, the car IS 16 years old, so let's be real. I don't want to waste your or my time going over every single nick, ding and scratch on the car. Sure, it's got some minor ones here and there, but again, the pictures and videos speak for themselves! There are no dents of any significant size to mention, just a small tiny one on the front right fender. The bumpers are not dented or falling off. There is one area on the driver door where it appear some minor body work had been attempted. It's got 124,645 on the clock, which really isn't all that high, considering the age of the car. Most people tend to put between 10 - 15,000 miles on a car annually. Even using the low end figure of 10,000 miles per year, this car SHOULD have close to 160,000 miles, but it's got closer to 125,000. That tells me that this car was likely owned by a little old lady who used it to go to church, the corner grocery store, the doctor and the pharmacy. In fact, I met the original owners when I bought the car. I am only the 2nd owner of this little gem. The couple from whom I had purchased this car were the original first owners, and was one of the reasons why I bought it in the first place. While the car has no known problems or issues, it's worth mentioning that the car is protected under ebay's Vehicle Purchase Protection plan. It's about as close to a warranty as you can get!

The interior seats & carpeting have an average degree of wear and soiling. Pretty much all I have done myself is run a vacuum through it. There is some wear on the seats and carpeting: the original carpeting on the driver side has a small hole, obviously caused by foot placement. I just threw in a few floor mats to cover up the original carpeting and hasn't bothered me since! The passenger seat has an old faded stain, and there is a small red paint stain on the rear passenger seat. Again, the car is 16 years old, and I am assuming you are interested in this car for its exceptional fuel economy, and aren't too worried about some minor stains on the seats. They didn't bother me too much and if you feel they are going to bother you, some simple cheap $5 seat covers at Big Lots should fix them right up. There are some normal wear & tear scratches in back from the car being used to haul stuff around, as to be expected for a hatchback. I don't think these cars came with a radio, but I am including a tape deck with this listing, if the buyer wants it. It is NOT currently installed. If you want it, you can have it. If not, I'll keep it. I had a CD player installed, which I have since removed in preparation for selling this car. The dashboard start-up indicator lights do not stay on for more than a few seconds after start-up, indicating to me no problems whatsoever with the car.

The car has a newer set of tires, newer battery, new wiper blades, new hatch struts (they keep the hatch up and prevent it from falling on your head), matching white plastic hubcaps. When brand new, these cars came without hubcaps or a passenger side mirror. I added the passenger side mirror myself as an added safety measure. The thin layer of factory carpeting in the rear hatch area was kind of dirty when I bought the car, and wasn't worth trying to clean, so I cut it out and replaced it with the nice light-colored remnant which I cut to fit the rear hatch area. You'll see what I mean when you watch the video, below.

These little cars commonly have cracked windshields, missing or broken side mirrors, cracked or faded dash boards or missing some small buttons on the dash which operate the ventilation system. This car has none of those issues. There is a small quarter-sized spot on the passenger door where something sharp had torn the vinyl on the door panel. I simply covered it up with duct tape and ignored it. Frequently these little Geos has issues with the door windows rolling up and down, and staying on track. No such issues with this car

The engine runs like a scalded dog (which means it runs excellent). Granted this is ONLY a 3-cylinder engine, so obviously it is not going to run as well as a Cadillac V8. Nevertheless, you will not have any problem going up and down hills, or reaching highway speeds, or passing slow-moving semis. It has plenty of pep for being such a small car. It's no race car or Corvette, but it can easily hold its' own in traffic thick and thin, and even in snow. The car runs perfectly straight down the freeway, without pulling to one side or the other. The car has no known leaks of any kind, and I don't recall it using any oil.

The car has a clear title and is ready to go at a moments' notice. It's currently sitting in my driveway, and I need the space. I drive to Florida on a regular basis, and I would not hesitate to drive it there tomorrow, if I had the opportunity. The car is very lightweight, fun to drive, EASY TO PARK, CHEAP on gas, CHEAP on insurance, and quite CHEAP to fix. There is practically nothing in it that can break, requiring costly repairs (such as expensive power window motors, digital displays or sophisticated computers onboard). It is just a small, simple car. If you have the least bit of mechanical ability, you should be able to perform some of the regular maintenance yourself, such as oil changes, replacing a battery or air filter, or changing a tire. The engine itself is practically dry, and free of a buildup of old oil, grease and dirt. There are no known leaks anywhere. All the lights, wipers, horn, and dash display indicators work perfectly. In the video, below, I started the car up, to show that none of the dash indicator lights remained on for long after start-up, indicating to me a relatively problem-free engine! You'll be able to see & hear the engine running in my video, below, and aside from the normal sounds an engine makes, you are hardly able to tell the engine is running, since there is very little engine vibration.

The car is perfect for an around-town errand car, college student on a budget, or perhaps for a young first-time driver to learn in. I mean, if you are looking for a car for your 16-year-old to learn to drive in, you don't want him or her using YOUR car as a bumper car / training car, do you? The car is tiny enough to fit in to the smallest of parking spaces, and easy to parallel park. Or, use it for yourself as an economy car. Sure, gas prices at the moment are hovering around $2.50 a gallon. Remember where they were at this time last year? In my area, they were close to $3.75 at this time last year, but immediately after hurricane Ike hit, they were around $4.25, and that was for the cheap stuff! Even at $4 a gallon, the 8-gallon tank would cost you $32 to fill up. How much does it cost you in YOUR tank or SUV? My record fuel economy in this Geo is 415 miles on a single tank, on the highway (about 52 mpg). In town, I average slightly less, around 42 or 45 mpg. Certainly the car isn't a head turner, award winner, or show stopper. Those cars cost at least $30,000 new. I'm guessing that if you are reading this listing thus far, you aren't too concerned with a car that will turn heads. People will, however, likely stop and ask you at gas stations how much mpg you are getting, as a couple people have already asked me- especially last summer when gas was over $4/ gallon. If you have long commutes to and from work, or drive for a living, no doubt you want something small & economical, and that also looks clean & decent. GM made these little fuel-efficient cars in the 90's that got 50+ mpg. Why on earth can't they do it again? As I mentioned before, I drive to Florida regularly, which is about an 850 mile drive, one-way. This little car could get me there in about two fill-ups, at a total fuel cost of about $40 - $45.

That's about all I can think of at the moment about the car, but if I remember anything else later on, I will be sure to add to this description, or make any necessary changes. I've made a video, below, which should give you an idea of how well the car looks, how easily it starts up, and how quietly and smoothly the engine runs. Take a peek at it, plus all the pictures I've uploaded, and if you still have questions, feel free to send me a question using the "Ask a question" link found in this listing.

If you need help with delivery of the car, I do have a tow dolly as well as two vehicles which are both equipped to tow, and I'd be available to assist with transporting it, if need be, for an additional fee for my time, fuel & labor. Vehicle must be paid in full, as well as towing fees paid up front before the vehicle will be towed anywhere.

Payment for the vehicle is quite simple. A $500 paypal deposit from the winning bidder within 24 hours, and the balance in CASH upon pick-up of the vehicle, within seven days of the sale date. If you are a local buyer and wish to make a $500 CASH deposit in person instead of using paypal, that is also acceptable. CASH IS THE ONLY FORM OF BALANCE PAYMENT ACCEPTABLE FOR THE VEHICLE . At that time, the notarized title will be handed to you, and you are free from that point to throw on your own tags and drive off with it, or whatever. Your acquisition of the vehicle will not occur in ANY case until paid in full. If you find that you need additional time to come up with the balance of the vehicle beyond the seven days, I would be happy to try to work something out with you, as in holding the vehicle until your next payday, for example. I would also be willing to take payments on the vehicle to help out, but the vehicle would remain in my possession until completely paid for.

Due the high number of non-paying bidders on ebay, I need to institute the following requirement: If you have less than 10 feedbacks associated with your ebay user ID, OR if you have less than a 98% positive feedback, OR if you have been a registered ebay user for LESS than six months (or any combination of those conditions), YOU MUST CONTACT ME PRIOR TO PLACING YOUR BID. Use the "Ask a question" link found to the right of the picture, above, to email me your name and phone number and best time of day to contact you. Failure to do so will result in your bid being canceled. Sadly, this is necessary due to the high number of bidders who bid with no intention of ever buying what they bid on, and I do not have time to play such games. You can see what a great deal of time & effort I have placed into my listing, the videos and pictures, so the least bidders can do is to abide by this one simple request as mentioned in this paragraph. Having less than a 10 feedback, or having been registered on ebay less than six months will not automatically prevent you from bidding on or buying this vehicle. I just want some sort of assurance from those bidders that they are real, legit, and have every intention on following through with their bid if they happen to be the winning bidder. Unfortunately, this requirement is in place because ebay is either unwilling or incapable of preventing such abuses, and sellers such as myself simply do not have the time or patience for it. Your feedback on ebay is pretty much the same as your credit rating. When you go in to the bank to fill out a loan app, you are assigned a numerical credit score which is essentially your "credit worthiness". Similarly, your ebay feedback score is your ebay "credit worthiness". I just need some sort of assurance that I am dealing with buyers who won't leave me hanging at the end of a vehicle listing.

So this is your chance! Where else are you going to find a clean, high MPG XFi Geo Metro that's been well-cared-for, and in the condition that this one is in??? All you need is to fill it with gas, throw on some tags and go! This may be your last opportunity this year to find a car in this good condition, which runs as well as this one does, AND gets as good mileage as these Geos were well known to get. These can come very close to the mileage that some hybrids get, and even exceed the mileage that some new hybrids car deliver, without the need to worry about replacing expensive batteries down the road. Click below for the videos of the car to see even more detail than the pictures show!

Ohio bidders/ buyers: If you have recently disposed of a vehicle (sold, wrecked, etc.), and that vehicle still had current tags, you can easily transfer those existing tags to this or any other vehicle you obtain. This can be done at any Ohio DMV for a small fee (I believe it is $6.25). You will first need to transfer the title of your new vehicle in to your name at any Ohio vehicle title office, then take that title to any Ohio DMV and transfer your existing tags there. If you do not have any existing tags from a recently-disposed-of vehicle, and wish to get tags immediately, you have two options: A) Get a 30-day temporary tag. For this, all you need is the notarized title that I give you, or B) Get permanent Ohio plates. In order to do this, you MUST first get the car titled in to your name, then take that new title to any Ohio DMV for permanent plates. If you have an upcoming birthdate within the next 30 days after buying this vehicle, it may be cheaper for you to get a temporary tag until your birthdate passes, THEN get permanent plates. Call your local DMV office to see if this will be cheaper for you. I believe temporary 30-day tags in Ohio are $10.50. If you are the winning bidder and wish to have this vehicle towed to a destination for you, it may still need to be tagged. Check with a DMV to see.

Out-of-state bidders/ buyers: If you are the winning bidder and wish to drive this to your state, you MAY need to acquire a temporary Ohio tag. All you will need is the notarized title that I give you, taken to any Ohio DMV, with a fee of $10.50, and you will be given a temporary 30-day tag which is legal anywhere in the US. If you are the winning bidder and wish to have this vehicle towed to a destination for you, it may still need to be tagged. I believe Ky residents have 10 days from acquiring a vehicle to get it tagged, so Ky buyers may be able to drive it home without a temporary tag. I would urge anyone who is not an Ohio resident to check with your states' DMV to see what the rules are in your state with respect to buying a vehicle out-of-state and driving it home.

Placement of your bid indicates to me that you are satisfied with the information, photographs and videos provided in this listing description regarding all aspects of the vehicle and are committed to completing the purchase if you are the winning bidder.  As always, potential bidders are welcome to drop by and inspect the vehicle prior to placing a bid. Placing a bid, or becoming the winning bidder does NOT entitle you to come by for an inspection. Again, placing a bid, or becoming the winning bidder indicates your willingness to follow through with the purchase of this vehicle. Inspections are to be done BEFORE bidding and/ or buying. This car is also being listed locally, so it may be yanked off ebay at any time. Failure to complete a transaction after having made a paypal deposit will result in forfeiture of that deposit.

If you click the link below (or copy and paste in to a new web browser window), you can see that a nearly identical Geo Metro XFi, just sold on ebay at about 9pm eastern time on Monday, October 5, for exactly $3200. It was ebay item # 260482420531.
