1982 AMC Spirit
DL. 82,000 miles. 1st owner had the car garage-kept 26
years. I am the second owner. No rust inside, outside or
underside. Does not burn oil! 30 mpg. Interior has no rips
or tears, but typical ‘80s plastic fade and wear. Headliner and
sun visors are new. Bad news: The passenger seat does not stay upright with someone in it – recliner needs replacing. The paint was a Maaco job by the previous owner one month before I bought it; it is the correct AMC color, but not concourse quality. The AC does not work. Good news: New suspension front and rear including springs, shackles, shock plates, ball joints (upper and lower), and gas shocks. The car handles very well and is a lot of fun to drive, and is fast! New exhaust, fairly new tires, complete tune-up, two oil changes (since I have owned it over a year), ALL belts, fluids and filters changed. New light switches. Everything works including the quartz clock (except the AC) Also, wheels powder coated in correct shade of white with genuine Gremlin button hubcaps (I have the cheesy original full wheel covers). New fuel pump, belt tensioner, valve cover gasket. The bumpers were removed, cleaned and anodized six months ago. Genuine and rare NOS AMC mudflaps and red and blue stripes of my own design. NOS Driver's side remote control rearview mirror just installed. One quirk – it came from the factory with “Concord” on the glove box. I hate to see it go, but I need something bigger and older to haul car club stuff around since I am an antique car club president. Over $9500 invested.
