1966 Austin Healey BJ8

1966 Austin Healey 3000 MkIII BJ8This restored Austin Healey is simply fantastic! I bought the car in January 2000 and drove it from Atlanta, GA to Houston, Texas. At the time it was unrestored and in pretty rough shape (cosmetically), but man was it fun to drive! I drove it for about a year in its unrestored condition and decided I wanted the look and feel of a polished BJ8. So I embarked on the adventure of restoration. As many of you know, this can be a trying (i.e., expensive) endeavor. Most of the restoration was interior and exterior and was performed during the years 2001-2004. The odomoter now shows 71,667 miles, which are all original. As you can see, the car has been treated to a first class restoration with a completely new interior. The body panels were taken apart, dipped and stripped, and then put back together with new seals and piping. The engine and drivetrain are in original condition and have not been rebuilt -- frankly, there has not been a reason to do so since the engine holds compression perfectly. I have added a couple modern touches to the car to make it a little more user-friendly, such as stainless exhaust, electronic ignition, and a custom canvas top (instead of vinyl). The chrome bumpers were replaced with new parts, but over the last few years a little rust has popped back up. Otherwise, the car is in great shape and is ready for its next adventure. As many stories go, I am selling my beloved Healey in order to expand our business. Such a sad story in today's economic environment when the banks don't seem to make loans anymore to help businesses grow. Overall, this is the perfect car for the Healey lover looking for a strong driver that looks great! It has been lovingly restored to make a great driver, but not overdone so as to be scared to actually drive it.
