Presented to the world at the London Motor Show in October 1966, the newest Austin Healey Mark IV Sprite made its debut boasting a bigger 1,275 cc engine and other improvements. Successor to the successful Austin Seven, the Sprite began its journey in 1958 and was produced until 1971 although importation into the US ceased in 1969.
This 1969 model Sprite roadster is one of only 22,790 made between 1966 and 1971. Finished in classic Tartan Red over black trim and equipped with 1,275 cc dual carb engine, 4 speed manual transmission, full instrumentation, rear luggage rack, tonneau cover and more, this uncommon English roadster sits in highly original condition boasting original interior, drive train and mostly original paint with a few touch-ups having been performed over the years. Just acquired from a small collection in West Virginia, this handsome car also boasts only a little more than 60,000 miles since new and has had the same owner for more than 22 years! A very enjoyable car to drive, this Mark IV a very solid example of a last generation Austin Healey 2 seat roadster. Likely one of a very few original examples left, the European car enthusiast will recognize this unique opportunity.

A brief word about the collector car market as it is today:
The opportunity has never been better to purchase a collector or special interest car. As the stock market continues to rebound, more investors are looking to put their money into hard assets that they control, and make no mistake about it, there is a tremendous amount of money out there despite what the news is reporting. Like gold and silver, collector cars have worldwide appeal, and accelerate in value even as the stock market declines.
In 1987, we saw the worst stock market decline since the Great Depression. In the next 12-24 months, however, the value of collector cars skyrocketed – many doubling and tripling in value. For example, a Jaguar E-Type convertible, then a $20,000 car, increased in price to $60,000-$80,000. Ferraris selling for $200,000 quickly became $1 million motorcars. Again in 1991, as the Gulf War raged on, we saw a recession at home. Once more, these cars saw an immediate increase in value, even as the market declined. Unlike the stock market, you control these assets, and they will NEVER be worth “nothing”. Stocks will come and go but these tangible assets will always at least retain their value and most often will gain significantly.
These investments can provide you with both the pride of ownership and the pleasure of showing and driving. Now is the time to buy these great assets – as the stock market continues to stabilize, these secure investments will continue to increase in value often out-pacing the “market”. Rare and sought after models like the one shown here will provide both years of enjoyment and a stable, if not profitable return. Put simply, the smart money is buying right now!
Important note about Classic & Exotic MotorCar Gallery. Because of our low overhead and finely tuned business model, we are able to acquire ONLY top quality cars and offer them at very competitive prices. We also DO NOT charge the unnecessary “document fee” that almost all other dealers add to the purchase price. The price we agree on is the final price, no hidden fees etc, BUY WITH CONFIDENCE!
