Fast Lane Classic Cars, Inc. is very proud to offer this wonderful 1963 Riviera for sale.
Today,..after we finished the inspection on this car,..two gentlemen, (brothers, Joe and Frank) were huddled by the Buick outside of our service department near the front of the car.
Come to find out, Joe was a long standing member of the Riviera Club here in St. Louis.
As we began to talk to one another, Joe communicated some interesting history about the Riviera and it's begining.
As told, Harley Earl designed the Riviera and presented it to the Cadillac Division to be badged as The New LaSalle.
The Cadillac Executives turned it down as they were already marketing the Eldorado as their 2 Door Businessman's Performance Car.
It's at that time that Mr. Earl presented it to Buick. After the years between concept to production, Buick rolled out the 1963 Riviera as their Businessman's Performance Coupe.
This is a fine example of Mr. Earl's Riviera,..we hope you like what you see.
Fast Facts.
Number Matching 401 Buick V8.
325 Horse Power.
Correct Granada Red Paint.
Correct White Interior.
Beautiful Floors & Frame.
Believed to be an original mile car.
The Exterior Condition.
Fantasic Granada Red paint showing nice reflections with a deep gloss and shine quality.
This is a repaint of course,..and the car presents itself in a very nice way.
The chrome is bright and has a nice finish as does the window trim, aluminum body trim and glass.
The Riviera stands square to the road, the street stance is very nice.
This is a beautiful car that will capture the attention from all who see her.
The wire hub caps are nice,..although I can see some custom wheels to really set this car off.
The overall exterior condition was described by Joe and Frank as a very nice Driver Quality car. When I asked them to grade it on the typical 10 scale,..their answer was,..."How about the 5 scale, that's what we use in our car club?" "It's a 3.5"
I of course asked them to translate that to the 10 scale,..our collective number came to be a 7.5 to an 8 on the Driver Quality Scale.
No doubt, the Rivi is great looking. You'll like it for sure.
The Interior Condition.
A very nice place to sit and be seen.
The seating areas are nice, white and well sewn.
The dash and dash board components are nice and show very, very well to what looks to be the original knobs, controls and finishes.
This is a tilt steering wheel and a power window optioned Riviera.
Please notice the crack in the steering wheel, it's pictured.
The power windows are fully operational, the factory radio is not.
The carpeting is clean, the headliner is tight. However,...there is a picture of a hole the size of a dime in the back passengers side rear section of the headliner.
Otherwise, a very nice approach to a clean and finished interior cabin that can be judged in alignment with the exterior condition.
The Engine & Transmission Condition.
Wonderfully tuned 401 V8 with 325 Horse Power.
The car runs cool, everything is smooth in operation and I would drive it anywhere in confidence.
The engine bay is clean and has nice finishes to all engine area components.
This is a Factory Air Conditioned car with all components attached and fully operational,...but it needs a charge to blow colder than the 60 degrees it's currently operating at. The compressor is kicking fine.
Even the factory BUICK Inspection painted stamp is still very present on the compressor!,...a very clean under hood appearance indeed.
The blower motor/fan speed is not powerful enough to force the Air Conditioned air out faster than a breeze.
The power antennae operates, but only goes down to a point to where 12" of the aerial still remains showing.
The Cruise Control does not operate.
The VIN plate & Trim Tag are attached, the engine bay is nicely detailed and this car is ready for "Hood Up" presentations at weekend car shows with pride.
Drive anywhere quality, wonderfully tuned and ready for any length journey.
The Undercarriage & Frame Condition.
Wonderful - Solid - Strong
No need for any sheetmetal work whatsoever,...anywhere. The metal and sturctrual components of this car are fantastic.
The Final Word.
We don't believe in Perfect Cars. We do however believe this car should be considered to be in Excellent DriverCondition.
